Goodbye summer
Just wrapped writing and directing Season 3 at Park Village Playhouse. This year we put up 4 shows with a season cast of 43 rising 1st through 8th graders. With titles like "Revenge of the Summer Break Brain", "Ravioli Western", and "The Kickball Club: World Series", it is easy to understand why kids and families might show up. The magic has been in witnessing and guiding our players through the challenges of putting up an original, mixed media, live show every week.
We go by several mottos but a key one is from my high school physics teacher: "Hard work, done well, feels good." For this age group, it might be the most important line they remember. We've given this generation overwhelming obstacles and it's our responsibility to help them with the tools to navigate solutions we aren't even aware of yet. The meat is in practicing their critical thinking, growth mindset, and ability to break down a large goal in to achievable tasks with a collaborative vision. Our backyard theater may have a few talented actors, editors, and prop fabricators, but it most certainly has 43 future leaders.
Moving On.
